A Mercantour ski resort, Auron is located between the Mediterranean sea and the National park of Mercantour, situated only an hour away from Nice. The resort was created in 1937 In the heart of the Maritime Alps. Auron occupates the Domaine Blanc with its neighbours, Isola and St Dalmas. The area has over 135km of ski pistes in 4 sectors : Las Donnas, Sauma Longue, Demandols and Lieuson. For snowboard fans, Auron has an area called surf land which is entirely dedicated to snowboarders. There are different areas e.g, beginners can use an area that is also used by the ESF, (the National French Ski School) , there is a sector used by intermediate and expert freeriders, and a half pipe with 4 different slope styles : table, gap, spine and face quarter. Surfland was built to cater for varying levels of snowboarders. Freestyle fanatics will be able to have fun all day and slide in all directions. For nature loving skiers, Auron will provide all the joys of skiing in a natural setting. With regards to the après-ski, you can go on a carriage ride or make the best of the exercise equipment, depending on your desires. Before testing out the après ski, why not finish your day with a paragliding descent ? The resort is home to many world champions such as Fabien Barel, world mountain bike champion and Christophe Pinna, world Karate champion.
